The bodies of two teenagers are found in a small town in Northern Mexico; along with
the two bodies is an AR15 firearm. The story takes us back in time following the weapon’s trail to its origin in the USA.
Mariana Arriaga Armendáriz (1991) Born and raised in Mexico City, she studied Communication Arts at the Universidad Iberoamericana. Her thesis short film “En Defensa Propia” was selected by the Venice Film Festival in 2015 in the category for Best Short Film. She then co-directed “Libre de Culpa” with her brother, which got selected to the Mexican Academy’s Ariel Awards. Co-founded a production company based in Mexico City: Memento Mori Films. and shot together two more short films: “B-167-980-098” and “Zero Hour”. She has produced “In the Belly of the Moon” a documentary on mezcal. She has working experience in all the stages of film production as well as in advertising and music videos. She is currently preparing her debut feature film.
Santiago Arriaga Armendáriz (1992) Born and raised in Mexico City, he graduated from Communication Arts at the Universidad Iberoamericana. While still a student worked at Anima Studios, and later as production assistant on the TV Series “Kin”. Afterwards he co-founded “Memeto Mori Films” with his sister, which has produced four short films: “En Defensa Propia”, selected for the Venice Film Festival; “Libre de Culpa”, selected to the Ariel Awards; “B- 167-980-098”, selected at FICM Morelia and in LA Shorts; and “Zero Hour”. He has been selected for a workshop with Herzog in Peru. He has been working in advertising and music videos, along with a script for a first feature to be co-directed with his sister.
