A specially designed waterwheel interacts with strobe light, synchronized with two 35mm cameras recording the scenery in stereoscopy. Our perception is tricked twice in a single moment: the illusion of the moving image is created in camera, while the illusion of standstill is forced by the strobe light onto the patterns of the waterwheel. 

Johann LURF (1982, Austria) was educated at art academies in Vienna and London.
He makes short films and installations, and works part-time as a projectionist. His work has been screened and received awards at several international festivals. Lurf's experimental short film Embargo had its world premiere at IFFR 2015. In 2017   
he made , another experimental film consisting of found-footage material,
