Biography
Born in 1993, Luke Lorentzen graduated in History and Film Studies from the Department of Art and Art History at Stanford University. His first documentary, New York Cuts (2015), explores six hairdressers in different enclave cultures of New York City. The film had its world premiere at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam and its American premiere at the Camden International Film Festival. The same is part of the creative team behind the Netflix documentary series, Last Chance U (seasons one through four). His work explores elements of everyday life, often through rigorous formal studies. It means, questioning and experiencing the ways in which non-fiction stories are told.
