Synopsis
It is October 12, 1968, at the inauguration of the “XIX Olympic Games” in Mexico City history records the first female olympic athlete to light the Olympic Cauldron “Fire of Peace”. Time is runs backwards, and the athlete is now a student carrying the torch, rememorating the “Fire of the student deaths” at the hands of the Mexican government during the massacre at the Tlatelolco ́s Plaza in Mexico City.

Biography
Ricardo Soto (1988) studied film direction at the Centro de Capacitación
Cinematográfica (Mexico). His works were screened at festivals such as Camerimage, Locarno, Huesca, Biarritz, Vladivostok, Sao Paulo, GIFF, FICG, A.O. As a new director, he has been selected at Berlinale Talents, Filmmakers Academy of the Locarno Film Festival, Talent Demo by Camerimage, MexiCannes 2015 (GIFF in cooperation with Cinéfondation Cannes) and IDFAcademy at IDFA. He has been a two-time recipient of the co-investments grant by FONCA and received the Artistic Residence 24/7 in Berlin by Nipkow Programm, Goethe Institut, GIFF and Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg. He is now finishing his feature film debut “The Chant of the Flies”.
