Synopsis:

During one hot summer day, little things happen to the visitors and workers of an old spa resort in southern Chile.

Biography:

Director, screenwriter and editor. In 2003 he received the Andes Foundation scholarship for the production of the documentary “Ningún lugar en ninguna parte” (No place anywhere) that was shown in 25 international festivals. His short film “Obreras saliendo de la fábrica” (Women Workers Leaving The Factory) has been selected in more than 50 festivals and has received, among others, the award for best short film at ZINEBI Bilbao and at the Drama Short Film Festival. “El tiempo que se queda” (The Time That Rests), where in addition to directing, he worked in production, camera, sound and editing, was premiered at the 2007 International Film Festival Rotterdam, and won the Award for Best Film, Cinema of the Future at BAFICI, in Buenos Aires 2007. “El Cielo, la Tierra y la Lluvia” (The Sky, the Earth and the Rain) is his first fiction feature film that premiered at the 2008 IFF Rotterdam where it was acclaimed, as well as at festivals in Mexico and Korea. His second feature film, “Verano” (Summertime) (2011) premiered at the Venice Film Festival in the “Orizzonti” section. In 2013 he released the documentaries “Qué historia es ésta y cuál es su final” (What Story Is This and What Is the End) (Mention by the Jury in Fidocs) and “Ver y escuchar” (Watch and Listen) (Best Director of Chilean Competition, Sanfic). In 2016 he premiered the feature film “El viento sabe que vuelvo a casa” (The Wind Knows I’m Coming Home) at various festivals for which he received numerous awards. His latest works are the short film “Sobre cosas que me han pasado” (On Things Which Happened to Me) (Audiovisual Fund 2017) and the fiction feature film “Vendrá la muerte y tendrá tus ojos” (Death Will Come and Shall Have Your Eyes) (Audiovisual Fund 2016, World Cinema Fund Festival of Berlin, Visions Sud Este Fund in Switzerland, Ibermedia and Hubert Bals Fund of the Rotterdam IFF) which premiered in the official competition at the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain. He is currently writing the script for the fiction feature film “Querida Vera” (Dear Vera) (Audiovisual Fund for script writing 2017). He has taught fiction and documentary film at the Universidad de Valparaíso, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Andrés Bello, Universidad del Desarrollo, Universidad Católica de Chile and the Universidad Mayor.
