“To be” is a documentary that narrates the experiences of three testimonies and the abuses they went through throughout their lives. Juana, Mar and Eduardo ́s narration praise nature and its stages, forms and states in a visual essay format.
María José Castillo was born in Mexico City in 1997 and later on moved with her family at age 3 to Puerto Vallarta, a small town in the Pacific. There she developed her love for arts and nature. Most of her inspiration comes from growing up close to the sea. When she finished high school, María had the opportunity to travel to Italy. There she got interested in fashion and did an undergraduate on history of fashion design in Firenze. She now lives back in Mexico City, where she attended film school at EsCine (Escuela Superior de Cine) and works as a freelance photographer, art director and writer.
