Ricardo Soto studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City, and was selected in 2016 for a residency in Berlin, where he worked on his film Prima Volta. Soto's first feature film, Plástico, about the story of two brothers who as adults go through an existential crisis, premiered in 2015 in Guanajuato, where it received a Special Mention. The film received much praise for the strength of its images, the rawness of its scenes and the expressive musical accompaniment.
