Julio Hernández Cordón is an American director, producer and screenwriter, with Mexican and Guatemalan nationality. He worked as a journalist in Guatemala, during which time he published a book of stories entitled Por el Suelo. In Mexico, he began studying filmmaking in 2000 at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City. He made the short film Km 31 (2003) and the feature film Gasolina (2008), which won several national and international awards.
