Argentine film director and screenwriter Lisandro Alonso studied at the Fundación Universidad del Cine (FUC) before beginning his career in the 1990s. He worked as a film producer and assistant director before becoming a director and screenwriter. In 2001 he presented his first feature film, La libertad, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival where it was screened in the official section Un certain régard.
