Carmen, a sixty-year-old woman, travels from Mexico City to the town where she was born after forty years of absence. There she begins to look for the traces of her father, who left her at birth, whether he is alive or dead. She wanders among distant relatives and flashes of her past. A story divided between melancholy and the luminous sky.
Pepe Gutierrez was born in Mexico City in 1989. He studied in CUEC-UNAM (Film School of the Mexican National University). He participated in The Guadalajara Talent Campus, the workshop The personal vision in the cinema imparted by the filmmaker Amat Escalante and The analysis and development workshop imparted by Violeta Bava and Ilse Hughan. He has obtained diverse acknowledgements and supports due to his film work, a clear example is “Young creators prize” given by the FONCA. His films The
birds look to the north (2014) and The bright of your eyes will extinguish with the darkness of the world (2016) were screened at different festivals. His film debut I promise you never to come back (2016) participated in the laboratory for a possible cinema imparted by film directors Matías Piñeiro y Nicolás Pereda at the International Festival of Cinema in the Desert (2015) also awarded as the Best First Film of the 11th International Film Festival of Documentary Mx - DocsMx.
His second film I made this movie thinking of you (2018) participated in the laboratory for a possible cinema imparted by film directors Amat Escalante and Luis Ospina at the International Festival of Cinema in the Desert (2017) and was released worldwide at the 8th UNAM International Film Festival.
